Cork canter to victory - Monday, March 16, 2009
Ciaran Sheehan and David Goold scored 0-10 between them as Cork recorded a facile victory over Kerry in a surprisingly one-sided Munster U21 FC quarter-final at Pairc Ui Rinn.
John Cleary's charges never looked back after wing forward Colm O'Driscoll broke through for an early goal. With Sheehan, Colm O'Neill and Shane McCarthy to the fore, the Rebels went on to lead by 1-9 to 0-4 at the interval with neither of Kerry's two big guns, David Moran or Tommy Walsh, making an impact.
The home side maintained their dominance in the second half with Sheehan and Goold, in particular, giving the visiting defence a torrid time. By the end of the third quarter, Cork led 1-14 to 0-6 and despite the best efforts of Gary Sayers who scored 0-3 for the Kingdom, they marched on impressively to a semi-final meeting with Waterford.

Rebel footballers win as hurlers' shadow looms - Sunday, March 08, 2009
The spectre of the Cork hurling crisis loomed large at Pairc Ui Chaoimh as the footballers disposed of Fermanagh by 0-10 to 0-7.
Conor Counihan's side routinely dispatched the Ernesiders with a decent second-half display against the elements, but protesting Cork supporters made their feelings heard, making sure that the crisis engulfing the county remains very much top of the agenda down south.
Fans protested vociferously at the county grounds at half time and at the final whistle. They planned to hand an official letter of dissatisfaction to County Board secretary Frank Murphy during the break, but it remains unclear whether this was achieved.
Rebel County supporters have little reason to be unhappy with the form of their footballers these days, however...

Canty fit to face Fermanagh - Thursday, March 05, 2009
Graham Canty has recovered from a leg injury to take his place at centre back on the Cork team for Sunday's NFL clash with Fermanagh at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
The Bantry Blues clubman was rated as doubtful after sustaining a leg injury in the drawn encounter with Kildare. Rebels boss Conor Counihan has made a number of changes from that game.
Noel O'Donovan returns at full back in place of Ray Carey, with John Miskella and Anthony Lynch switching corners. Former Aussie Rules recruit Michael Shields also returns at left half back to the exclusion of Ger Spillane, while Nicholas Murphy takes over from the injured Patrick Kelly at wing forward.
Before the game, a second protest march will be held in support of the striking 2008 Cork hurling panel.

Murphy leads Blarney to glory - Monday, February 16, 2009
Blarney corner forward Colin Murphy inpsired Blarney to victory over Galway champions Cappataggle in the All-Ireland club IHC final at Croke Park on Sunday.
It was an incredible double for Cork as Dripsey had earlier lifted the junior title and they thoroughly deserved their victory.
Murphy finished the match with a personal tally of 1-9, but the game only came to life in the second half as both sides looked to take the lead.
And it was the Cork side who took their chances, but a Damien Joyce goal midway through the second half set up an exciting finish, as they responed to Cappataggle’s goal in excellent fashion when Ross McNamara scored their second goal.

O'Riordan proves captain fantastic in gritty Dripsey's charge to trophy - Monday, February 16, 2009
Cork side Dripsey may only be in existence four years, but they produced a brilliant display of hurling to claim the All-Ireland Junior club title at Croke Park.
Rarely has a captain been as deserving of lifting a trophy at headquarters than Diarmuid O'Riordan, who contributed 1-9 to his team's score in a victory over a Tullogher Rosbercon side that didn't give up despite being behind for the entire second half.
It was tit for tat in an entertaining first half until O'Riordan gave the Corkmen some breathing space with a close-range goal three minutes before the break.
The Kilkenny men fought back, as any team wearing the black and amber does, and only trailed by a point at half-time. They levelled through Liam Barron just after the break but Dripsey were soon on top again with two points from O'Riordan before David O'Sullivan netted their second goal.
