Cork to appeal Mulcahy red card - Wednesday, September 10, 2008
Cork are set to mount a vigorous defence of their top forward Valerie Mulcahy, who is facing the prospect of missing the All-Ireland ladies football final against Monaghan later this month following her controversial dismissal against Tyrone.
The Rockban ace was red-carded for alleged verbal abuse just 30 seconds from the end of Saturday’s semi-final at Tullamore which the Rebelettes won by 4-18 to 0-11 to remain on course for a four-in-a-row of All-Ireland successes.
However, Cork officials are adamant that she was sent off in the wrong and that Sligo referee Liam McDonagh misinterpreted what she said. And they hope to produce supporting evidence from one of the Tyrone defenders who reportedly endorsed Mulcahy’s version of the incident afterwards.

Kerry 3-14 Cork 2-13 - Sunday, August 31, 2008
The three-in-a-row dream remains very much alive for Pat O'Shea's charges as lethal Colm Cooper's 66th-minute goal proved decisive at Croke Park this afternoon.
Munster champions Cork looked dead and buried with twenty minutes remaining of an absorbing encounter at GAA HQ as they trailed by 2-12 to 1-6.
But 15 minutes later, the Rebels had doubled their score as an unanswered 1-6 sensationally brought them level with rattled Kerry, who blew eight-point leads in the Munster final and last Sunday's drawn match.
It seemed that the momentum was very much with Conor Counihan's battlers, but typically, Kerry refused to panic and somehow found an extra kick, having looked a spent force.
O'Shea took his time bringing on substitutes during the second half but one of them, the speedy Darren O'Sullivan, cut in from the left touchline and supplied 1-08 hero Cooper for a cool finish past Alan Quirke.

O’Connor in the clear - Thursday, August 28, 2008
Donncha O’Connor’s four-week suspension has been overturned by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC), which means he will be free to play in this Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final replay against Kerry.
The Rebels attacker had been handed the month’s ban by the Central Competitions Control Committee on Monday, after receiving a straight red card by referee Joe McQuillan in the second-half of the Munster Champions’ draw with the Kingdom for lightly-slapping Aidan O’Mahony across the face which saw the Kerry defender fall to the ground dramatically.
However, after O’Connor’s appeal to the CHC last night (Wednesday) the Committee have decided to rescind the red card, allowing O’Connor to play against the All-Ireland Champions this Sunday and in the All-Ireland final should the Rebels get there.

One change for Rebels - Thursday, August 28, 2008
Conor Counihan has made one change to his Cork side that drew with Kerry last weekend for this Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final replay against Kerry.
Kevin McMahon comes in for Donncha O’Connor and will play at left-half forward with Sean O’Brien switching to the right wing from last weekend’s line out.
O’Connor is currently waiting to hear whether or not his four-week suspension will be lifted by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC), after picking up a straight red card the last day, and if so he may be within a chance of reclaiming his position in the Cork half-forward line.
Other positional changes on the team see Ger Spillane lining out at centre-back while John Miskella fills the number five jersey for the Munster Champions. Captain Graham Canty is once again fit to line-out at centre-field along side Alan O’Connor, but Nicholas Murphy’s injury troubles sees him start on the bench once again.

Cork delay replay selections - Wednesday, August 27, 2008
Cork boss Conor Couinhan will not name his side for Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final replay with Kerry until later on this week.
A number of the Rebels squad picked up knocks during the heated last four clash at Croke Park and the Munster Champions will not name their side until team management assess who’ll be fit for this Sunday.
More notably, Cork are waiting to see if Donncha O’Connor’s appeal over the red card he received in last Sunday’s match to the Central Hearing Committee is successful so as the forward would be available for selection against the Kingdom.
