Its Now Or Never for the Cork Footballers - Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Its “ Now Or Never “ for the Cork Footballers to end the County’s famine of going 19 years without an All Ireland Title. The fact that its our fiercest neighbours Kerry that lie in wait to be beaten adds to the spice of the occasion. When Larry Tompkins climbed the steps of the Hogan Stand to lift Sam Maquire in 1990, that Cork Team put to bed a side in Meath that a bit of hoodoo both on the field and in the head of Cork’s Footballers, the same now can be said of the opposition that lie in wait for us on Sept 20th.

Cork take back-to-back titles - Sunday, September 13, 2009
Cork manager Denise Cronin leapt for joy as the Rebellettes claimed back-to-back Gala All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship titles, following a hard-earned eight-point win before 25,924 at Croke Park this afternoon. Free-taker Rachel Moloney was in superb form with seven points, six from placed-balls while Cork goalkeeper Aoife Murray kept her side on top in the closing stages with some vital match-winning saves. Although Cork were convincing winners at the finish, there was nothing to separate the sides in the opening stages with the counties level on three occasions by the 18th minute.

Cork thwart Kilkenny's Grand Slam bid - Sunday, August 30, 2009
Kilkenny's bid for a second successive clean sweep of All-Ireland hurling titles faltered at the first hurdle in Dungarvan yesterday when Cork powered to a 10-point victory in the intermediate final. With their outstanding midfielder Leigh Desmond helping himself to 0-10, the Rebels claimed their seventh All-Ireland in the grade in impressive fashion. They led from the fifth minute after Luke O'Farrell goaled to give them a 1-1 to 0-2 lead. They extended their lead to 1-7 to 0-6 by the 20th minute before the holders cut the gap to 1-8 to 0-9 at half-time. Youghal clubman Desmond accounted for 0-6 of Cork's first half tally, while Ray Carey and O'Farrell also had minors.

Cork see off Mayo - Sunday, August 30, 2009
Cork remain on course for a fifth successive TG4 All-Ireland Ladies senior football championship crown after booking their place in the September 27 final. The all-conquering Leesiders ran out 3-10 to 1-9 semi-final winners against Mayo at McDonagh Park in Nenagh and will meet Dublin or Monaghan in the showpiece Croke Park decider. Wing-forward Amy O'Shea was the two-goal heroine for Cork, with goals in each half arriving at opportune moments. O'Shea fired home her opening goal five minutes before half-time as the Rebelettes opened up a 1-5 to 0-2 half-time lead and the Inch Rovers star grabbed another midway through the second half.

Cork name final line-up - Thursday, August 27, 2009
Cork have announced their team for Saturday's All-Ireland IHC final against Kilkenny at Fraher Field in Dungarvan. Blarney's Dara Sweeney captains the side from full back, while under 21 star Leigh Desmond partners Eoin Dillon at midfield. The Rebels, who defeated Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final, face a Kilkenny team who qualified directly for the All-Ireland final after beating Wexford in the Leinster final. It's the second year in-a-row that all four Kilkenny teams have qualified for All-Ireland finals, and their intermediates will be hoping to complete the first leg of another clean sweep of hurling titles.

Rebels burst Tyrone's bubble - Sunday, August 23, 2009
Cork are through to the 2009 All-Ireland SFC final after beating Tyrone by 1-13 to 0-11 in a one-sided semi-final at Croke Park. The Rebels were magnificent throughout and won with plenty to spare despite playing with 14 men for 40 minutes. Tyrone lost key man Shaun Cavanagh to illness just before the throw-in and could never overcome that blow. The losers were on the ropes from the start and were never let settle into their stride. The winners, in contrast, could afford the luxury of 14 wides as 55,000 spectators witnessed a definite changing of the guard. Packed with power, pace and passion, Cork totally dominated the first half to lead by 1-9 to 0-7 at the break, with Daniel Goulding claiming the goal after seven minutes. Tyrone were out of sorts in the first half but were handed a possible lifeline when Cork midfielder Alan O'Connor was sent off on the half hour.

Cork land title - Sunday, August 23, 2009
The weekend has got off to a great start for Cork as their junior footballers claimed the All-Ireland title following a 0-15 to 0-12 victory over Roscommon at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise on Saturday. The victory over the Rossies means that the Leesiders now have won more junior titles that anyone else in the country, 15 in all, as they move ahead of Kerry in the roll of honour. Roscommon started the brighter, but five unanswered points midway through the first half brought Cork right back into contention and indeed propelled them to an 0-8 to 0-4 lead at half time.
